What is the Christian Educators Diversity Symposium?
The CEDA Symposium is a forum of learning and discussion for educators who strive to push Christian education to reflect the diversity of the Body of Christ.
Mia has served as an educator, counselor, facilitator, and speaker for groups as large as 5,000 attendees on a local and national level addressing topics in the broad continuum of relational health concerns, as well as justice and fair treatment for humankind. She is a gifted speaker and moderator with schools, organizations, and churches, facilitating dialogue for even the most difficult personal and professional topics with grace, sensitivity, and truth. Mia’s professional discernment and intentional listening leaves each individual walking away with a piece of her compassion while feeling empowered and heard.
Chapman earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations: mass communication from the University of Central Oklahoma (2007), a master’s of education from the University of Oklahoma (2012), and a doctorate of philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Oklahoma (2018). Chapman’s research interests are in school equity, diversity, and inclusiveness. Chapman has conducted research studies on Christianity and race, and he focuses on helping organizations embrace, employ, and engage in kingdom diversity practices. Chapman currently serves as Associate Pastor at LifeChanging Faith Christian Fellowship in Frisco, Texas. Chapman has been blessed to preach at churches and conferences at the national, state, and local levels. Chapman is married to Kimberley Kierra Chapman and resides in Frisco, Texas with their sons.
His award-winning articles addressing education, history, politics, media and youth culture have appeared in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Barna Group, The Washington Examiner, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Des Moines Register, The Atlanta Constitution, Citizen Magazine, Movieguide, and Fox News.com to name a few.
Through the help of a grant from the Maclellan Foundation, John converted his Imago Dei Leadership Forum curriculum into a new e-textbook entitled In Whose Image? Commissioning new research from The Barna Group on Gen Z, and over forty engaging short videos, John provides an amazing and much-needed resource for Christian educators, youth leaders and parents. In Whose Image? helps teens affirm their identity and faith in Jesus, and equips them to learn the importance of loving others as image-bearers—both in history and today—while sharing the Gospel and pursuing Christ-centered justice.
Every plenary and workshop session are scheduled for 2 dates.
We know how busy you are during these uncertain times. The plenary and workshop speakers have graciously agreed to present their sessions twice to ensure that you’re able to attend.
Sessions will begin May 7th and occur every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 pm EST.

Our virtual symposium has 2 parts: A live streaming portion and an interactive Zoom meeting.
The primary content delivery will be through live streaming. In Zoom, you will be able to participate in interacting with other attendees and in the small group breakout sessions.
Each of our plenary and workshop will have either a live Q&A with the speaker or an interactive breakout portion for attendees to share and discuss the themes and questions shared by the speakers. Breakout sessions allows our virtual symposium to be more interactive and less of a broadcast.
At the time of the event, visit our website at https://christiandiversity.school to access the live stream and the zoom sessions.
You will need a password to access the live stream page, which will be emailed the morning of the event.
It will be necessary to sign up in zoom for the workshops as most will have breakout rooms during the sessions.
Using this link, you will be able to register for the plenary/workshop of your choice.
All content will begin at 4:30 pm and end at 5:30 pm EST. The dates for each live plenary and workshop are listed on the website.
Plenaries and workshops will be modified to meet the speaker’s needs. Some will begin with content and then move into discussion time, while others will include content and discussion intermittently throughout the session.
If there is a scheduling conflict that prohibits you from attending the live session, no need to miss out. The content portion will be available for viewing after the event for all those who registered for the symposium.
What parts of the event will be available after the symposium and what will be missed if a participant is unable to attend one of the provided sessions?
All of the speakers’ content will be available after the symposium, but the participant discussions will not be recorded. This is to promote a more honest and open dialogue between the speaker and other participants.
New participants can register at any time since the content will be recorded and available afterward. It is our hope that this will allow more Christian educators to participate in the diversity, equity, and inclusion learning provided. However, in order to be part of the live discussion during the symposium, attendance will be required.
